Artist Statement

As a dancer and movement artist, I am perpetually exploring and understanding the intersectionalities that exist within my identity while challenging the impact my artistic voice can have on people that watch me perform. Being an individual of quiet nature, I value the power my body holds in communicating the feelings I struggle to verbalize through movement expression. Music and sound production heavily influence the way my body reacts kinesthetically, and my performance work incorporates deep layers of understanding rhythm and synesthesia through movement. As I continue to enhance relationships within various dance communities, I hope to deepen an understanding of the power movement holds in connecting people of various backgrounds and in empowering voices that may similarly not feel heard or understood. Expression and empathy within the human experience are what I value most in the work in which I partake.
